Netflix has acquired Spry Fox, a game studio known for developing hits like Triple Town and Alphabear. This is the sixth game studio to be acquired by Netflix as the company looks to bolster its gaming offerings.
Spry Fox co-founder and CEO David Edery said in a statement, "When David and I founded Spry Fox twelve years ago, our goal was to create a place where good, creative people could make beautiful, original games."
Edery added that the acquisition would not affect the development of new games or the distribution formats of existing games. Netflix will allow the team to focus on game production without worrying about profitability.
This is a big win for Netflix, as Spry Fox is responsible for some of the most popular mobile games in recent years. With this acquisition, Netflix is sure to make a splash in the gaming industry.
