Destiny 2 Commendation Requirements: Bungie Slashes them in Response to Player Feedback

Bungie has recently lowered the commendation requirements to reach higher Guardian Ranks in Destiny 2. This was done in response to feedback from players, and it should be lowered further. The changes have made it much easier for players to progress their characters and make meaningful progress toward their goals with the game.

The Guardian Rank system was introduced with Destiny 2's Shadowkeep expansion, and it required players to collect commendations from various activities like patrol missions, bounties, and strikes in order to increase their rank. Initially, these requirements were quite high, with rank 7 requiring 750 commendations, rank 8 needing 1,250 commendations, and so on, up until rank 10, which required 5,000 commendations. After receiving feedback from the community that these requirements were too steep for those playing casually or who lacked access to certain content due to their platform or location – such as console-exclusive content – Bungie decided to respond positively by slashing down almost all of these requirement numbers significantly. Now rank 7 only needs 460 commendations while rank 8 needs just 790; even more impressively, they reduced the requirement for reaching max level (rank 11) from 6,000 down to 1,800 commendations – a reduction of 70%.

These changes make it much easier for casual players or those without access to certain content platforms/locales can still get involved in progressing through Guardian Ranks without having to grind endlessly for commendations. This should allow more people to enjoy the rewards associated with reaching higher levels, such as increased Power Level progression and improved cosmetics options like shaders – although this may vary depending on individual playstyle preferences. Furthermore, there may be further incentives added soon as Destiny 2 devs continue work on improving player experience within this area of gameplay – including potential tweaks which could reduce Commendation requirements even further if needed after taking into account how things are going over the next few weeks following this initial decrease.

Conclusion

Overall it is great news that Bungie has responded positively to player feedback about Commendation requirements being too high by slashing them significantly across all upper guardian ranks. This allows more people an opportunity to enjoy rewards associated with progressing through guardian ranks without grinding endlessly – although some may still find that they prefer grinding anyway due to playstyle preferences. Hopefully, we'll see more incentives soon as developers continue to work to improve the user experience in this area of gameplay – both by introducing new features and potentially lowering the commandment requirements, if necessary, after evaluating how it goes over time.
