CD Projekt Red Announces Major Progress on The Witcher 4 Development

CD Projekt Red has recently communicated that the development of The Witcher 4 has officially moved into a significant phase. This announcement was part of the studio’s financial report for the third quarter of 2024, released on November 27. Michał Nowakowski, the joint CEO, provided insights into the progress of the upcoming Witcher installment, known as Project Polaris.

Nowakowski expressed pride in the team’s transition from pre-production to the intensive full-scale production stage, emphasizing the seriousness of this development phase. He expressed appreciation for the team's commitment to the project and their efforts thus far.

Initially revealed in March 2022, Project Polaris aims to launch a new chapter in The Witcher saga. However, specific details regarding the narrative and returning characters remain undisclosed at this time. The anticipation surrounding this title is palpable as fans eagerly await further information.

In the same earnings report, CD Projekt Red disclosed impressive sales figures, highlighting that Cyberpunk 2077 has reached 30 million copies sold, with its expansion, Phantom Liberty, exceeding eight million sales within just over a year of its release. Nowakowski noted the growth of a dedicated fan community around the Cyberpunk series, contributing to what he described as a commendable quarter for the company.

He stated that while both Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion continue to perform exceptionally well, The Witcher 3 also maintains a strong sales presence in the market.

Additionally, CD Projekt Red is advancing another project, Project Orion, set in the Cyberpunk universe and developed by the same team behind Phantom Liberty. Nowakowski indicated that these ongoing ventures are stable and are making steady progress.
