A New Adventure Soars: How to Train Your Dragon Steps into Live Action

In recent times, the trend of live-action adaptations has gained significant traction in Hollywood. Following in the footsteps of Disney's numerous remakes of beloved animated classics, Universal is also preparing to introduce the training methods of the How to Train Your Dragon series to the big screen in a fresh format.

This upcoming live-action adaptation offers a retelling that closely mirrors the narrative of the original film, which is part of the beloved animated saga. Scheduled for release on June 13th, viewers can anticipate a faithful recreation of the story.

The plot centers on Hiccup, a young Viking who chooses to defy the warrior customs of his community that revolve around hunting dragons. Instead, he forms an unexpected friendship with a distinctive dragon known as the Night Fury, named Toothless. Through their relationship, Hiccup strives to help his fellow residents of Berk understand that dragons are not the fierce beasts they have always believed them to be.

Leading this new rendition is Dean DeBlois, who played a crucial role in shaping the animated films. The cast features Mason Thames in the role of Hiccup, alongside Gerard Butler reprising his function as Stoick the Vast, Nico Parker portraying Astrid, and Nick Frost as Gobber, among others.

As the release date approaches, audiences can check out the latest trailer and official description:

On the rough terrain of Berk, a land inhabited by Vikings and dragons have been traditional foes for years, Hiccup (portrayed by Mason Thames; known for his roles in The Black Phone and For All) Mankind) stands out. As the inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (voiced by Gerard Butler, who returns to lend his voice from the animated series), Hiccup breaks away from long-standing customs when he forms a friendship with Toothless, a legendary and feared Night Fury dragon. Their extraordinary friendship unveils the true essence of dragons, challenging the very principles of Viking culture.
